| | | | | MOTORBOOKS BLOG | I've just left one of my favorite swap meets, and one I consider a tradition since I haven't missed one in twenty-five years. So it pains me to recognize that what used to be an exciting event that would provide all sorts of swap meet gold is quickly becoming a venue for worthless junk (and ridiculously huge ice cream bars, which I don't need either).
My first trip here took place long before the Internet, and long before cell phones were as common as shoes. I'd often come the night before it opened and await the line of vendors before dawn. Armed with a flashlight and cash, I'd attempt to buy whatever cars and parts I wanted (or could afford) before they even made it through the gate. |
