Sammy Hagar is one, who also wrote what he calls a "protest song" about the (now old!) 55-mile-an-hour speed limit in the United States. Sammy Hagar, the infamous "Red Rocker," began his serious musical career with the band Montrose. After a successful solo career, he took a star turn as Van Halen's front man, ably filling in for the flamboyant David Lee Roth. After that, he created Cabo Wabo Tequila Company, and now he performs with friend and former Van Halen colleague Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and ace guitarist Joe "Satch" Satriani in Chickenfoot.
